My heart
What does Jesus deserve the most?
He deserves to be worshipped and adored.
He deserves to be exalted over everything. Every being and every plan. In short Jesus deserves to be exalted over every area of my life.
When I worship Jesus I try to focus on who He is first. Because He is so many things. Some of who Jesus is He is Creator, life giver, and sustainer. He is the beginning and the end. He is the King of the universe. The Lord of lords. He is God almighty and Savior of the world. He is holy and at the same time merciful. He is all powerful while being humble.
When I begin to focus on who Jesus is then I can focus better on what He can do. When I focus on who He is then my problems become more manageable. And satan seems less powerful and people less intimidating.
He deserves worship even when I don't feel like worshipping Him today. Even though some of my powerful worship times have come from an area of dryness. It's those times when I choose to worship Jesus that my feelings eventually catch up to my spirit.
Due to my love for worship, you can imagine my joy when the Spirit inspired me to write my first and only modern day praise psalm.
For your heart
Worship is more than a song-it is a response. When we truly behold Jesus, everything within us is called to respond with awe, reverence, surrender and praise.
Worship songs were sung in heaven long before it was ever uttered on earth. Think about that. Jesus was being worshipped in Heaven long before He was worshipped on earth.
I believe that we all have songs of worship within our hearts to be sung to Jesus. They might not rhyme nor be as polished as a professional songwriter would be.
Jesus doesn't care if our worship songs are eloquent or poetic. He only cares if they are from your heart.
Let me encourage you to write out your own worship song to Jesus that's straight from your heart.
